Of the required 40 hours, three must be specially related to ethics or law. Utah does not place a limit on the quantity of hours that can be earned online versus in-person, which allows licensees added flexibility. That said, all continuing education hours must be obtained through an approved entity, which is any course or program offered by the following: an accredited college or university, a community mental health agency, a public agency that offers mental health services, a professional social work association or society, or the Division of Occupational and Professional living. Additionally, the program or course must meet the requirements listed in point (B), sub bullet (d) of section R156-60a-304.
